A group of Briggs Jamboree participants pose next to their Jeep, which they decorated in honor of the event's cause, breast cancer awareness.
Drivers on Highway 77 the morning of Sunday, Oct. 18, were met with an impressive convoy of off-road vehicles headed for the Randolph, Kan., off-road vehicle area.
Nearly 70 off-road vehicles participated in the 19th annual Briggs Jamboree for breast cancer awareness. Together, we raised more than $3,700 for breast cancer research at the Terry C. Johnson Cancer Research Center at Kansas State University.
The day began with registration and breakfast from Wamego’s Friendship House bakery, followed by opening ceremonies. Breast cancer survivor Kim Johnson, wife of Briggs CFO Boyd Johnson, gave remarks on the importance of research to battle this devastating disease. Briggs sales professional Rick Ebert emceed the day’s events.

Briggs Auto owner Russ Briggs shows off his Jeep after getting partially stuck in a big mud hole during the 19th annual Briggs Jamboree event on Oct. 18.
Some participants chose the road rally, which gave drivers clues to guide them through a scenic drive through the changing fall colors of the Flint Hills. Other drivers broke into groups of varying skill levels on guided off-road trails in the Randolph ORV area. Due to recent rains, muddy terrain and deep puddles presented additional obstacles for off-roaders to enjoy.

I am employed by a CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE dealership in Lincoln NE. We have heard of this event for years and finally chose to partake in this years Jamboree. I can confindently say that all of us that came down from Lincoln had the most fun of our entire lives. We don’t have these functions in Lincoln so the 2 hour drive was worth it and more. We will definately be promoting the 20th anniversary Briggs Jamboree locally and see if we can’t help get attendance to an all time high. Jeep franchise or not, your people represent what Jeep stands for better than anyone on earth. Keep up the phenomenal work and we look forward to supporting this great cause next year. GO BRIGGS!!!!!!
